new artist & latest at the wba!

Above 11th Street, Park City by Jan Perkins  ~ 10 x 8

Welcoming our newest wba artist: Jan Perkins!  🙂

The past two Saturdays I had the opportunity to show at the Park City Parade of Homes Show.  While there, I was able to meet and paint with Jan, who is a wonderful artist and amazing gal!  It was a retreat of sorts as we got to sell and paint in the “garage gallery”, {named by Jan}.  The show is still going on this weekend and if you’ll be attending, Jan will be there today as well as Monday at house #9 in Charleston.  The house is gorgeous, and you’ll find Jan at the end of the tour where she is offering discounts on her prints this weekend.

Jan will start showing with the wba in October.  Till then, you can find more of her work on her artist website.  She lives in Oakley, has some animals, enjoys painting animals, landscapes, townscapes, etc.  Her work is currently showing in Southern Utah, Gallery Mar in Park City, and Bozeman Montana galleries.

As for the rest of us here at the wba, keep our artists in your thoughts and prayers as several have not been feeling their best, and Carole is holding fast in Cape Cod.  We’re hoping that all will feel better, the storms will cease, and we at the wba will be able to continue to bring you joy everyday!

September’s giveaway will post in a couple weeks as well as a new feature on our gallery, “Ask the Artist“, where you can ask whatever you like about one of our artist’s work, passions, quirks,…whatever!

Meanwhile enjoy your long weekend!  The fam and I have nearly survived the Swiss Days Weekend over here in Midway.  🙂  I was able to help in the fruit booth last night.  Later we took the kiddos around a bit and ate a scone {oh, it tasted good, but I had a bit too much and regretted it later!}

This morning, we went and picked apples up at Huber Grove, met some Huber descendents, all there for a family reunion, and very appropriately wearing apple-t-shirts to boot.  As we walked across the bridge over Snake Creek to the car, we saw a deer in the grove….the kiddos love that…last time we were in Snake Creek, the explorer kept asking for “more deer!”  As if we cam magically coax them out of hiding.  🙂

Lastly, we stopped at the State Park pond to play at the playground, feed the ducks, touch a dead fish….

yes, I know

…and the explorer got bit by a corn-kernel-eating-duck…

ya, you know the type!

Well, we’re going to bottle some pickles this afternoon and make an apple-currant pie thanks to the Huber Grove.  Can’t wait.  Guess I should go get on it.  🙂

Talk about a memorable weekend!  Enjoy all!
