taking flight {oil by katrina berg}

taking flight by katrina berg, 16×16 oil on cradled masonite, 1 1/2″ thick sides painted to match chair, $225 unframed

For my birthday last Spring, the designer arranged for his mother to watch the kiddos while we went out to sushi (one of our absolute favs).  What I didn’t know is that my amazing mother-in-law was keeping the kiddos over night.  We’ve never had a night alone since the first of our 3 lil’ ones was born.  So it was a treat for sure.  We stayed at the Armstrong Mansion bed n’ breakfast in Salt Lake.  We both have a passion for older homes and buildings, and enjoyed wandering into unoccupied rooms.  In one of those rooms, we found the painted chair.  It was a wonderful evening away…I slept so well and instead of sleeping in, wanted to make the most of our morning.  We walked the Avenues, finding future painting subjects.  ~ katrina
